The sixth outbreak of brucellosis in the Crimea
According to the Chairman of the State Veterinary Committee of the Republic of Crimea Valery Ivanov, this is the sixth case of brucellosis detected in the place where animals are kept. This time, it was possible to localize the outbreak quickly and prevent the spread of infection among people and animals. For a year now, the republican veterinary services have been in an enhanced mode of operation, which allows them to quickly monitor the number of animals on farms and identify signs of the disease at a very early stage.
"After a series of outbreaks of brucellosis, we are actively working in the Belogorsk district, and now we are talking about a farm where 20 cattle are kept. The infection occurred while grazing together with previously sick animals," Valery Ivanov told RIA Novosti Crimea, adding that the outbreak was quickly located.
According to the HEAD of the Rusakovo rural settlement, Alexander Panin, the farmers of this village are currently prohibited from grazing livestock and selling MEAT and dairy products.
The first case of brucellosis in the Crimea in December last year was associated with the importation of a sick or vaccinated animal from another subject of the Russian Federation. An outbreak of brucellosis in January of this year led to the infection of nine people in the Crimea and Sevastopol. A criminal case has been initiated against the farmer, which is under the control of the republican prosecutor's office.
The regional Rospotrebnadzor noted that brucellosis has not been recorded in the Republic of Crimea for many years.
