The City Station for the Control of Animal Diseases (SBBZH) informed the population about the outbreak of African swine fever in a private backyard in the village of Mylki.

The owner of a fattening boar reported the death of the animal to the veterinary service. Analysis of the pathological material showed the presence of ASF virus DNA in the tissues. One out of seven pigs was also infected.

Aleksey Shcheglyuk, HEAD of the epizootic department of the SBBZh, said that two versions of the spread of the virus are being considered: with food waste that went to feed animals, or with small rodents. All pigs in the villages of Mylki, Khapsol, Ogneuporny, Tayozhny, Khummi, Amurstal are subject to euthanasia with subsequent disposal. This is the second outbreak of African swine fever in the suburbs of Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The first one was registered at the beginning of April in the village of Parkovy. The distance between them is eight kilometers.
