Epizootic foci were identified in farms located in four settlements: the villages of Bobry, Vatutino, Zhilino and Shosseinoye. Quarantine restrictions apply within a one kilometer radius around each of them.

All types of cows, buffaloes and sheep are susceptible to bovine leukemia virus. The disease cannot be treated. If a pathogen is detected, the animals are sent for slaughter. The rest of the livestock is isolated and blood is regularly drawn for testing . If veterinarians do not detect a single case within six months, the farm becomes leukemia-free.
