SUGAR and MEAT are getting more expensive in the Kaliningrad region, but fish is getting cheaper! The cost of food in the westernmost region of the country as a whole has been growing for more than a week. What is the reason for this, and how does it affect the budget of the inhabitants of the region?

Vegetables in the Central Market of Kaliningrad are not yet adding in price. It's not for long. At the large wholesale base on Zakharov, there are now very few goods, and their cost has become much higher, says the seller Tatyana Kazimova. Now he sells cucumbers, tomatoes and the entire borscht set almost at the purchase price.

TATYANA KYAZIMOVA, SELLER:

- Somewhere the goods are a little more expensive, but somewhere we set the price cheaper, because now people somehow buy the goods a little! In small quantities, very little, if earlier a person took one kilogram, now he takes two or three cucumbers and tomatoes. Yes, but now there is no goods at Zakharovsky, they bring very little, it is difficult to bring goods across the border.

For a whole week there was a rush for teas on the market. Entire lines gathered at the counter of Svetlana Ambartsunova, now the influx of buyers has decreased. The assortment of goods has been significantly reduced. If products from Kazakhstan continue to arrive regularly, then there are no deliveries from other countries yet. According to her, the reserves will last for two months.

SVETLANA AMBARTSUNOVA, SELLER:

— Prices have risen very significantly, from 35 to 45%. People, as always, are probably in a panic, they are afraid that they will still rise in price, there is such a thing, the purchasing power has grown. There are no deliveries, agents who worked with imports say that the goods are frozen, we do not receive them. The fact that there are leftovers - we sell, and so, there is no import.

According to sellers, all groceries have risen in price.

KONSTANTIN MOROZOV, CORRESPONDENT:

- The price of sugar has increased significantly, if a few weeks ago it cost 60 rubles, now you can buy it for 100-110 rubles per pack.

Meat has also risen in price, sellers say. Prices have risen, both for pork and beef.

TATIANA VASILIUSKENE, SELLER:

- The purchase of beef, veal increased by 50 rubles, where is our anti-monopoly service, why does not it check the slaughterhouse and the wholesalers who bring meat here? You sell it even cheaper than before, because the purchasing power of people has fallen.

The region is provided with chicken, but the sellers say that one of these days they will also change the price tags.

LUDMILA DOMBRAUSKIENE, SELLER:

- While the price is the same, but from the 16th we were warned that there will be a rise in price, the carcass will be more expensive, and everything else - by 24%. Put before the fact. The assortment is the same, everything is enough, everything is there, they said don’t worry, we will work.

At the Kaliningrad Central Market, dairy products added several rubles.

TATYANA VERVAI, SELLER:

— The rise in prices, it was insignificant with us, and I don’t know anything about the fact that prices will rise!

Prices are not only rising, but also falling. The fish is getting cheaper. After the cyclones that swept through the Kaliningrad region at the beginning of the year, our freshly caught products hit the market every day.

OLGA SOBODASHEVA, SELLER:

- The price tags for our local fish have fallen, smelt has fallen in price, pike perch has fallen in price, it was 400, now it is 250, 200. Bream, all fish and perch have fallen in price, and burbot has fallen in price, bream has fallen in price. Expensive varieties of fish have not risen in price at all: halibut, salmon, price tags have not risen at all.

Residents of Kaliningrad noticed an increase in prices for several items at once, both in the markets and in the city's retail chains.

The regional department of the Federal Antimonopoly Service has opened a hotline on prices for socially significant goods. Department specialists will monitor prices for meat, FLOUR, butter, sugar and other products. You can complain about the increase in the cost on the official website of the OFAS.
