For more than half a century cows of Canadian origin have been bred in the Southern Urals. Every twelfth Hereford in RUSSIA comes from our area.

The Hereford breed was bred on the shores of Great Britain. Horned foreigners were brought to the South Urals more than fifty years ago. Then there were one hundred and fifty thoroughbred cows in the whole region. Now they are bred at five breeding plants. So at the agricultural enterprise "Varshavskoye", located in the Kartalinsky district, there are five thousand such cows. This breeding plant is the largest not only in the Southern Urals, but also in Russia.

These cows are remarkable in that they easily adapt to new weather conditions, they have long taken root in our region. Hereford calves are fed cow's MILK until adulthood. Adult cows have a special diet.

“We used to harvest haylage only from Sudanese grass and oats. And since the last three years have been dry, today we are mixing sweet clover and sunflower,” says Evdokia Grebenshchikova, DIRECTOR of the Varshavskoye breeding farm.

By the way, it was in the Chelyabinsk region that the genotype of animals was created, which provides a significant increase in live weight. Most of the cows are sold for breeding. But in the Kartalinsky district they decided that profits can be made not only on the field, but also from the counter. The people of South Urals were shown what marbled beef tastes like.

“I see for myself how this MEAT is produced, I myself have a hand in it,” explains Yury Kulikov, an employee of the meat processing plant in Kopeysk, “The quality here is special. I enjoy cooking our steaks myself.”

Yury Kulikov has been working in the shop of the enterprise for four years already. The master knows professionally about burgers and premium steaks. He explains that it is in marbled meat that fat is not harmful, but rather useful. Such beef improves immunity, has a good effect on heart function and contains many vitamins.

True, only if the animals are properly cared for. South Ural livestock breeders meet all these high requirements.

“In the south of the Chelyabinsk region there is such a herd of the Hereford breed, high quality beef, which is grown and fed as it should be,” says Irina Filipova, commercial director of the meat processing plant.

In the near future, restaurant-grade meat will become even more affordable. Already in May, the company plans to open its own store in the North-West of Chelyabinsk.
