it is reported that foot and mouth disease is one of the most dangerous diseases of artiodactyl animals. People can also catch it by drinking raw MILK from infected livestock and its products, but the virus is not transmitted from person to person.

“As part of the prevention of the disease, laboratory tests are being carried out for the presence of foot-and-mouth disease virus among animals. So in 2022, 930 studies of biomaterial from cattle were carried out. This year, research plans have been increased by 72%, and the circulation of foot-and-mouth disease virus among small cattle will also be monitored,” the Veterinary Administration said.

“The seasonal migration of gazelle from Mongolia to the Trans-Baikal Territory endangers the economy of Buryatia, since Mongolian antelopes are a natural reservoir of foot-and-mouth disease,” the republican veterinary department explained.

In addition, the region will tighten control over the import of MEAT and livestock. “The plans are to organize work to prevent the unauthorized movement of farm animals, meat and meat products to Buryatia from unrecognized and unfavorable zones for foot-and-mouth disease,” the institution added.
