Belarusian dairy products are much cheaper than Ukrainian ones, because Belarus has retained large-scale
MILK production. Obtaining permission from a number of Ukrainian enterprises to supply
MEAT and dairy products to Belarus
will not lead to a significant increase in the volume of its exports. Ukraine should not particularly rely on the Belarusian dairy market, since there is an overabundance of milk in Belarus.
According to Alexander Chagarovsky, chairman of the Ukrainian Dairy Committee of the International Dairy Federation, Belarusian dairy products are much cheaper than Ukrainian ones, because
Belarus has retained large-scale milk production. And
it is much more economically
profitable than the production of milk by the households of the population.
In Ukraine, large-scale milk production is very poorly developed: the share of milk supplied for processing from households is about 80%, and from agricultural enterprises - about 20%.
The only thing that may be of interest to Belarus is exclusive dairy products, Chagarovsky believes.
In 2009, the share of imports of milk and dairy products from Belarus to Ukraine in total imports amounted to 37.7%, butter - about 83%.
