In 2022, the state-supported agricultural insurance market increased by 25%

The agricultural insurance market has been growing for the past five years due to state support, and in 2022 alone it increased by 25%, according to the National Agricultural Insurers Service (NSA). In 2022, the volume of insurance reached 9.6 billion rubles, the NSA said in a statement. At the same time, in 2021, insurance volumes amounted to 7.8 billion rubles, and in 2018, insurance volumes amounted to only 2 billion rubles.

В денежном выражении объемы страхования выросли по двум основным параметрам. Так, страхование урожая увеличилось почти на треть, на 29% — до 7,0 млрд рублей. В животноводстве страхование выросло немного меньше — на 17%, до более чем 2,5 млрд рублей. Меньше всего пока что страхуют свои хозяйства рыбоводы — в 2022 году на страхование рисков в аквакультуре ушло 78 млн рублей. Если же оценивать не в денежном выражении, то в 2022 году аграрии застраховали на 25% больше посевов по сравнению с 2021 годом. Эксперты предполагают, что это произошло во многом благодаря государственной поддержке, но также и потому что аграрии озаботились страхованием в связи с ухудшением погодных условий.

Agricultural insurance is becoming a  popular way to cope with natural risks, the union notes. For example, in 2022, the government introduced a new program to support agricultural insurers in case of emergencies, and this gave an additional impetus to the development of the industry.

The NSA assumes that after collecting all the data,  including those parts of the industry that did not receive subsidies, the volume of insurance for 2022 will be 11 billion rubles. In 2023, the union expects further growth in insurance volumes, both in monetary terms and in terms of crop area and the number of insured animals.
