The number of chickens of the poultry farm "Borovskaya" (Tyumen region), where an outbreak of bird flu occurred, was burned in the open air on the territory of the enterprise in accordance with veterinary rules, explained Deputy Governor Vladimir Cheimetov. Earlier, the smell of burning from burning chickens reached the nearby villages and some areas of Tyumen.
“Naturally, this creates discomfort for life. As a person who understands all citizens who speak about their dissatisfaction on social networks, I can comment that, unfortunately, we had no other choice in this situation. This is not only a dangerous, but also a very active virus. The longer an infected bird remains in the outbreak, the more likely it is that the virus will spread further. To suppress the outbreak, we had to act with lightning speed, ”the words of Mr. Cheimetov were quoted at the regional operational headquarters.
He added that transporting infected biomaterial is prohibited by veterinary regulations. “This is a very correct principle. Transportation can significantly expand the focus of the epidemic. Anything can happen on the road - a feather or a drop of blood can fall, and the whole region will be left without an egg and without poultry MEAT, ”said the deputy governor. According to him, the burning place was prepared so that the infection would not get into the groundwater.
In total, about 4 hectares were required for burning, the total area of the landfill was 14 hectares. “Thus, the only place in the region that meets all the requirements for the destruction of infected birds is the poultry farm site. We, unfortunately, have no other option,” Vladimir Cheimetov concluded.
Since October 13, quarantine for avian influenza has been introduced at Borovskoye. On October 16, due to an outbreak of influenza at a poultry farm, an emergency situation was introduced in the villages of Borovsky and Andreevsky in the Tyumen region. In addition, more than 4.3 million heads of chickens belonging to the enterprise were destroyed in the region due to the disease. The day before, the TFR organized an investigation into a message on social networks about an illegal landfill for burning poultry products.
