At the first meeting in 2023 of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation (CCI) with manufacturers of plant products, the parties discussed the prospects for the development of the industry, in particular, the difficulties faced by manufacturers in the legal regulation of trade, the CCI said. Representatives of the Chamber of Commerce noted that they are ahead of the demands of the industry.

The meeting was attended by representatives of such major players in the plant products market as “Hi! Efko Group, Greenwise, Tashir Food, Abi. First of all, producers noted that earlier information about a drop in demand for plant-based MEAT in RUSSIA is not true - at the moment, market analysis shows that in 2022 the demand for frozen plant-based meat products increased by more than 50%, and demand for chilled products decreased slightly, which is within the margin of error. Thus, the production of plant analogues of animal products is still dynamically developing.

Producers asked the representatives of the CCI to consider such issues as the need to legally approve understandable product terminology, as well as assign codes of foreign economic activity for the development of exports of plant products. In addition, the meeting was attended by representatives of retail, with whom manufacturers discussed the issue of presenting products on store shelves.

In turn, the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry agreed that product standards should be fixed. They also noted that they are ahead of the development of the industry: while the production of vegetable meat in Russia is only at the stage of formation, the CCI is already ready to discuss plans for the future. Among other things, the CCI explained this by the fact that the access of Russians to various types of protein, including vegetable, needs to be expanded.
