Until the 4th week of 2023, 15,300 slaughter pigs were exported to other European countries. Weekly exports of around 5,000 pigs are expected over the next few weeks. Due to reduced refrigerated transport offers in Europe, the planned weekly EXPORT volumes have not yet been reached.
With these market easing measures, overcrowding in piggeries, which is related to animal welfare, could be largely prevented, causing the price of pigs to fall even more sharply. However, the crisis is not yet averted.
After a general assessment of the situation, the crisis management team decided to prepare and implement additional options in the field of sausages and MEAT cuts to accelerate exports.
The collection of financial contributions from retailers and producers, as well as the export of pork, will continue. Developments are being closely monitored and the situation is being reassessed weekly.
