“The subcommittee approved the establishment of tariff benefits in relation to certain types of domestic chicken MEAT. Thus, in 2024, it is planned to exempt from import customs duties supplies of domestic chicken meat in the amount of up to 160 thousand tons. This decision is aimed at stabilizing prices in the poultry products market due to the increase supply in the domestic market," the statement says.

On November 1, 2023, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture proposed introducing a duty-free quota in 2024 for the import of certain types of chicken meat into the Russian Federation in the amount of up to 160 thousand tons. The ministry also proposed establishing a temporary ban on the EXPORT of certain types of poultry meat from December 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024 inclusive . These restrictions do not apply to products exported to the EAEU countries .

In addition, for the same period it is proposed to introduce a ban on the export of eggs, including to the territory of the EAEU.

About the situation with prices

Earlier, First Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Lut held a meeting on stabilizing prices on the poultry products market. During the meeting, representatives of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation noted a significant increase in prices for poultry meat since May 2023.

In September, the Ministry of Agriculture reported that a decrease in the cost of poultry meat in RUSSIA is expected in the near future, including due to the expansion of production capacity and a reduction in seasonal demand.

In October, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, following a meeting on the current situation and prospects for the poultry industry, which was attended by representatives of the National Union of Poultry Farmers and key market participants, announced that the ministry, together with poultry industry producers, had reached an agreement to stabilize prices on the domestic market.

On October 24, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko said that prices for poultry meat and eggs in Russia have stabilized, and prices are expected to decline in the future.
