According to the Saudi Food and Drug Administration, poultry exports from Thailand to Saudi Arabia will be resumed from next month.
11 processing plants have passed inspection tests and received the right to supply chilled, frozen and processed chicken to the Saudi Arabian market. Five of these enterprises are owned by the Thai company Charoen Pokphand Foods (CPF), and the management of the company expressed hope for an increase in exports in the coming months.
“Saudi Arabia is a high potential market with over 35.6 million people. it is also a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council, for which food makes up 52.7% of imports,” said Prasit Bundungprasert, CpF DIRECTOR and executive committee member, in a statement to the Pattaya Mail newspaper. According to him, the population of Saudi Arabia consumes about 1.5 million tons of chicken per year, of which 590,000 tons are imported from different parts of the world.
