Stavropol goat breeders sell breeding animals outside the region

In terms of the number of breeding organizations, the Stavropol Territory ranks 3rd in RUSSIA. This indicator was achieved due to the significant potential of breeding animals in the region and the assignment of the status of breeding reproducers to three more enterprises in 2021

The development of goat breeding in the Stavropol Territory is proceeding at an active pace. The Nadezhdinsky goat dairy complex, which breeds pedigree goats of the Saanen breed, belongs to the leaders.

- After obtaining the status of a breeding reproducer, we were able to offer our potential buyers our breeding animals, and, in principle, all the livestock that we planned for sale have already been sold. About 500 heads of Saanen goats will be sent to customers from the Krasnodar Territory, Tver, Sverdlovsk and Leningrad regions. Moreover, we have concluded agreements with some buyers for further support and are ready to support them in veterinary and zootechnical terms, so that the animals reach the indicators that their parents have, - said Alexey Semenov, DIRECTOR of Nadezhdinsky KMC.

All animals sold were born between February and May 2021. They have unique characteristics due to genetics and the method of keeping used on the farm. At KMK they are grown in such a way that at 12 months Saanen goats already begin to give MILK .

There is no such result anywhere in Russia, since standard lactation in this breed begins at a year and a half. At the Stavropol enterprise, this process has been accelerated by half a year due to the technology successfully implemented here, which begins from the moment of conception.

- We pay great attention to the goats. We leave only breeding animals whose mother's milk yield is not less than 5.5 liters per day. At the same time, the weight of a kid at birth is also important - it must be at least 5–5.5 kg. They are kept in separate pens and are also successfully sold as pedigree goats, - said Alexey Semenov, director of Nadezhdinsky KMC.

The enterprise bought the goat feeding recipe from partners from Holland. It contains about 20 components in which the animal receives all the necessary nutrients. At the same time, KMK annually harvests fodder crops: alfalfa, pea, meadow hay, wheat straw and spring barley, which pays off with high milk yields and good condition of stall animals.

- At the moment, the Nadezhdinsky goat complex is the largest enterprise in the country in terms of livestock and production milk yield. Goats grown here give 5-10 liters of milk per day, with an average milk yield of about 4 liters. Animals have very good genetics, which the farm brought from the Netherlands and reproduced on its farm, - said Alexei Krisan, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Stavropol Territory.

The main activity of breeding reproducers is the reproduction and scaling of the best livestock genetics for sale in the commodity and peasant (farm) farms of the country. So, over the past year, Stavropol livestock breeders sold more than 20 thousand heads of breeding sheep, about 2.5 thousand heads of beef cattle and 500 heads of dairy cows.
