The higher duty (which stood at 37% at the same time last year) impacted the value of exports, which fell by 13% to US $77.6 million .
From January to July, exports to CHINA were 16% lower than last year in volume (218,005 tonnes) and 17% lower in value (US$513.3 million). This was primarily due to a sharp drop in exports in April and May, when American pork was subject to prohibitively high tariffs.
