“There is a demand for natural products in RUSSIA and abroad, consumers are increasingly trying to choose healthy food for themselves and their loved ones, and entrepreneurs are more actively using advanced technologies in the agro-industrial complex. The burden on the environment is also reduced. There is an additional incentive for the development of remote rural areas, where it is easier to grow organic products, including without mineral fertilizers and plant protection products,” said Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The HEAD of Government stressed that the Strategy for the Development of Organic Production until 2030 was specially approved in the country. According to the document, the production of Russian organic products for sale to end consumers within the Russian Federation (excluding consumption within the industry) in 2021 amounted to 9.2 billion rubles. Including:

canned products , juices and other processed vegetables, fruits, cereals and legumes (canned peas and corn) - 1 billion rubles; cereals, FLOUR , cereals - 1.8 billion rubles; baby food  — 1.1 billion rubles; dairy products  — 1.4 billion rubles; drinking MILK  - 1.3 billion rubles; MEAT products - 1 billion rubles; alcoholic products - 0.6 billion rubles; vegetables and  fruits  - 0.6 billion rubles; production of food forest resources - 0.3 billion rubles; other organic products - about 0.1 billion rubles.

As of April 2022, there are 111 organic producers operating in Russia that have received Russian certificates of conformity. Of these, 20 companies have dual certification - a Russian certificate of conformity, as well as a foreign certificate of conformity, 62 organic producers have only foreign certificates of conformity, that is, they have the right to EXPORT products recognized as organic in importing countries.

According to Andrey Kazakov, executive DIRECTOR of the Fruit and Vegetable Union, Russia is ready to replace all necessary products with imports. “There are all options for full import substitution. These are cereals, flour, baby food, canned food, juices, meat . Everything is. Yes, there are climatic difficulties, but the trend towards demand for high-quality and correct products continues. I think it will continue, and that is why the government and the prime minister personally pay so much attention to it. We are talking about import substitution, which the country can successfully cope with,” the expert believes.

Russian President  Vladimir Putin launched a reassembly of the import substitution program in Russia. He began with a state-owned company, on the activities of which the production of products depends. The head of state made it clear that investments in the agro-industrial complex, the provision of installments is what will support agricultural producers and allow them to quickly replace foreign machinery and equipment with domestic counterparts.
