On July 13, the Embassy of the Federative Republic of Brazil in Moscow hosted a presentation of the achievements of the Brazilian Association of Rendering Companies (ABRA), which are engaged in the processing of animal slaughter waste into MEAT and bone meal and technical fats for the feed industry. The event was attended by Advisor to the HEAD of the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR Vasily Lavrovsky
The Brazilian side was represented by the country's Ambassador Rodrigo de Lima Baena Soares and ABRA President Decio Cautinho. Representatives of Russian importing companies and industry unions were invited to the meeting.
Rodrigo Baena Soares noted the importance of the Brazilian livestock industry for the country's economy and the food security of countries importing Brazilian products. He paid special attention to the contribution of the Rosselkhoznadzor and personally the head of the department, Sergei Dankvert, to the establishment of strong ties between the supervisory authorities of the two countries, allowing the development of mutually beneficial bilateral trade.
Desio Coutinho spoke in detail about the state of the Brazilian meat processing industry and the place in it of the ABRA association, which unites the country's recycling enterprises.
In particular, due to the deep processing of animal waste, Brazil is a major producer of meat and bone meal and animal fats, which are widely used in industry and agricultural production, including as components of animal feed. To date, 13 Brazilian enterprises have received permission from the Rosselkhoznadzor to expand their activities, which allows them to EXPORT FLOUR and fats to RUSSIA. The Brazilian side expressed its readiness to expand cooperation in this direction.
Vasily Lavrovsky, in his speech, noted that supplies from Brazil of scarce components of feed of animal origin will be able to replace on the Russian market part of the raw materials previously imported from the EU countries.
The Rosselkhoznadzor also focused the attention of suppliers and importers on the need to comply with the requirements of previously agreed certificates for livestock products received in Russia, obtained as a result of rendering processing. In addition, the importance of developing parity trade between countries was separately mentioned, in connection with which the Rosselkhoznadzor asked the embassy to facilitate the early consideration of the issue of admitting Russian poultry meat to the Brazilian market and expanding the list of fish suppliers.
