The ROSSELKHOZNADZOR in the Sverdlovsk region has begun an inspection in connection with the mass death of chickens at the Kirovgradskaya poultry farm in the village of Polovinnoye. One of the versions - the state of emergency could have occurred due to a power outage for a day.
On the evening of May 9, the city of Verkhny Tagil and the village of Polovinny were left without electricity, cold water and Tele2 communications. The reason for the shutdown was an accident at the Verkhnetagilskaya GRES.
“On May 9, at 16:52 local time, the network equipment of the station was damaged at the Verkhnetagilskaya GRES as a result of a third-party lighting tower falling on the wires of the lines, located in the protection zone of the Verba 1-2 overhead line and designed to illuminate the railway tracks. As a result, a violation of the city's power supply was recorded," the press service of the Verkhnetagilskaya GRES told EAN.
The accident was eliminated only a day later. According to preliminary data, at that time, a chicken pestilence began at the poultry farm, as the birds were left without light, heat and fresh air. According to preliminary data, the chickens died in four buildings. There was no spare generator in case of emergency at the poultry farm.
“We are filing requirements to exclude an infectious disease in poultry as a possible cause of death, with the provision of laboratory test results,” said Yevgenia Kosareva, HEAD of the state veterinary supervision department of the Rosselkhoznadzor Administration for the Sverdlovsk Region, to EAN.
The EAN poultry farm has not been able to get a comment yet.
