During the inspection of hand luggage of passengers at checkpoints across the state border in January, employees of the border veterinary control department at the border of the Russian Federation and transport prevented the import of more than 375 kg of products controlled by the state veterinary supervision from the territory of Ukraine. These are MEAT and meat products, MILK and dairy products, fish products, honey and eggs.

Of these, 47 kg of unsafe products were seized and destroyed at the recycling plant, the remaining batches were returned to the adjacent territory. The perpetrators were brought to administrative responsibility.

Products of animal origin without markings and veterinary accompanying documents confirming their origin, quality and safety are of poor quality and dangerous. Importing animals without veterinary documents can cause the introduction and spread of especially dangerous diseases, such as rabies, foot-and-mouth disease, African swine fever, the ROSSELKHOZNADZOR reminds.
