According to Yury Shpizel, DIRECTOR of the Rosgosstrakh branch in the Republic of Bashkortostan, 43% of insured accidents in the region that led to the death of animals were caused by rumen tympania, a disease most often caused by non-compliance with the animal grazing regime and rules. Moreover, death occurs within a few hours after the onset of clinical signs of the disease. Therefore, medical assistance to the animal must be provided promptly - it is important that the veterinarian is nearby. 13% accounted for "suffocation (asphyxia)"; “Other diseases” close the top three applications, which accounted for 11% of applications submitted to the branch.

According to Yuri Shpizel, another risk characteristic of the region is attacks on cows by wild animals and dogs, which accounted for 7% of the total insurance payments of the Burenka branch. Moreover, 75% of insured events for this risk occurred in the Askinsky district, where about 134 thousand hectares are occupied by coniferous and broad-leaved forests. These are the usual habitat for brown bears.

“We have small villages in our region, which are surrounded by forests on all sides. It is there that bears often attack domestic animals,” says Elza Akhmatgaleeva, HEAD of the Askinsky universal office. “Moreover, only the skin and bones remain from the cow, often the insured animal can be identified in cases where only the remains of the head and ear tag can be found.”

In general, the loss of livestock or its forced slaughter due to illness or injury last year was the cause of more than 90% of insured claims. In 35%, the death of the animal was due to tympania of the scar; in 25% - animals died due to injuries, in third place - other diseases that led to death. It is also not uncommon for clients to apply because of animal thefts. In total, in 2022, Rosgosstrakh paid out about 25 million rubles for insured events with cattle owned by residents of rural areas, 686 of the company's clients received insurance compensation.

“All these risks are included in the insurance coverage of the Burenka program, which Rosgosstrakh has been offering to owners of farm animals for many years, and which is in constant demand,” says Yury Shpizel. “Despite the wide assortment in stores, many rural residents still keep cattle in their backyards, preferring their own dairy and MEAT products to purchased ones. A good cow or bull is not cheap: animal diseases, natural disasters and other events, including a banal theft, are a major loss for the owner. It was in order to protect the financial interests of livestock owners that this product was developed at one time. Last year, it was improved by including television veterinary services in the coverage. In the program, which is now called “Burenka. My Farm" also expanded the list of farm animals that can be insured - in addition to cattle, these can be horses and goats. In addition, the owner can also insure his civil liability in case the damage to the HEALTH and property of third parties is caused due to the fault of the animal belonging to him.

In rural areas, policies "Burenka. My Farm" can be purchased from insurance agents - this channel is still one of the key ones for Rosgosstrakh. Yuriy Shpizel emphasized that due to the optimal set of risks in the insurance program, as well as a developed network of agents, the company has been leading the Russian market for many years in terms of the number of livestock insurance contracts on a personal farmstead. Last year, in the country as a whole, Rosgosstrakh concluded 76 insurance contracts under the Burenka program every working day.
