Thus, profitability in crop production in the Ryazan region fell to 28% against 47.2% in 2022.
"The decline is due to the low price of grain, so the profitability of grain crops was at 18.6% versus 50.4% in 2022. Due to the record harvest of oilseeds, a good level of profitability is maintained for them - 39.8% (in 2022 - 49.8%)," the report says.
At the same time, according to the ministry, Ryazan farmers have shown good results in the vegetable growing sector - profitability increased to 52.5% (in 2022 - 32.8%) due to the high price of open-ground vegetables (in this area, profitability in 2023 was 73.6% versus 2.9% in 2022).
In addition, profitability in livestock farming increased last year, amounting to 28.5%, compared to 22.6% in 2022. High profitability was due to record production of chicken eggs (profitability of egg production in 2023 reached 48.3%, in 2022 - 29.8%), an increase in the number of pigs (profitability of pork production - 23.7%, in 2022 - 3.3%).
Profitability in MILK production in 2023 was 42.1%, in 2022 - 47.1%. At the same time, cattle MEAT production again turned out to be unprofitable: in 2023, profitability was minus 29.9%, in 2022 - minus 27.9%.
