By 2023, a breeding center will be built in the Moscow Region, which will provide poultry farms with breeding material. 4.5 billion rubles will be allocated for its creation in 2022. The press service of the government announced this on its TELEGRAM channel.

Construction will be carried out as part of President Vladimir Putin's instruction to strengthen the country's food security, in particular, to reduce the dependence of the agro-industrial complex on foreign purchases. “The breeding complex will meet the needs of poultry farmers, which means it will continue to supply the domestic market with high-quality domestic food products,” Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin emphasized at a meeting with deputy prime ministers.

In April, the press service of the government reported that 5 billion rubles would be allocated for the construction of a breeding reproducer. The reason for the reduction in funding is not specified. Then it was noted that the development of the domestic breeding base is aimed at supporting the agro-industrial complex in the face of sanctions. The government is focusing on import substitution. According to Mishustin, the agricultural sector in the country is ready for self-sufficiency and EXPORT, with the exception so far being the production of breeding material.

Konstantin Korneev, Executive DIRECTOR of Rincon Management, said that, in his opinion, if we start building the enterprise at existing capacities, we will be able to meet it by 2023. However, building from scratch will take about two years. “We are talking about the Smena 9 cross, its production figures are close to international crosses. Therefore, from the point of view of cultivation and processing, there should be no problems,” the expert believes.

According to him, the main risk is the biosecurity of the breeding farm, as well as the need for consulting and service support for poultry farms-buyers. “Employees need to be trained to work with the new cross. Suppliers of foreign crosses are provided with a significant amount of educational materials and methodological recommendations, and the Russian supplier of genetics will need to organize similar work, ”concluded Korneev.

In March, it became known that three investment projects in the field of poultry farming will be implemented in the Leningrad Region in 2022: it is planned to build its own loudspeakers, which will become a breeding base. The first project is being implemented by the Sinyavinskaya poultry farm. She plans to build a first-order stud reproducer and expand a second-order reproducer. The total capacity will be 45 million chickens of the final hybrid egg direction. Another project is the construction of a new poultry complex breeding reproducer "Voyskovitsy Poultry Farm" with a capacity of 44.4 million hatching eggs per year.
