The Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation approved the terms and procedure for group and individual labeling of farm animals, according to a document on the official website of the government. Marking becomes mandatory from March 1, 2024, but some breeders will be given more time to prepare.

So, from March 1, 2024, livestock breeders  must individually mark cattle , pigs, horses, donkeys and mules. However, this does not apply to personal subsidiary farms - here livestock breeders have a reprieve until March 1, 2025. Camels must be tagged by September 1, 2025, but if they are kept on private farms, they also receive a deferment until September 1, 2026. Group marking of deer must be carried out within the same period (individual marking is possible at the request of livestock breeders).

Until September 1, 2024, group marking of poultry must be completed. Until September 1, 2025, bees and rabbits must be registered as a group. Small ruminants are also subject to group marking, but until September 1, 2026 (in this case, in the case of breeding stock or in personal subsidiary plots, the animal can receive individual marking).

Finally, by March 1, 2026, group labeling of fish and aquaculture objects must be completed.
