The quality of halal products is one of the most important selection criteria. So, for 40% of consumers, when choosing, the freshness of the product is important, for 35% - high quality. Less often, the representation of different brands was mentioned as selection criteria.

According to the survey, there is a widespread perception among consumers of halal products that halal is a product that is allowed for Muslims and that is in line with Muslim traditions. 18% of respondents consider environmentally friendly halal products. Less often, halal is associated with certain services that are in line with Muslim traditions.

Most often, halal products are purchased in chain supermarkets, convenience stores (44%) and chain hypermarkets (40%). About a third answered that they buy products in specialized stores of halal products. Most consumers usually buy poultry MEAT , about half (49%) buy meat-containing products (semi-finished products, sausages, sausages, sausages , cutlets). Among the products that the respondents would like to purchase, most often also include poultry meat and meat-containing products.

“In 2023, on the basis of Roskachestvo, the National Competence Center in the field of halal products and services was created. The task of the Center is to inform a wider range of consumers about Halal products, employees of retail outlets about the rules for placing Halal products on the shelves, since products are often placed with violations, contamination / contact with pork products is observed,” commented Marat Nizamov, HEAD of the National Center competencies in the field of halal products.

“In turn, the task of the Certification Body is to motivate manufacturers to produce products according to Halal standards and certify, form a base-list of certified Halal products manufacturers accessible to wide consumers and act as a guarantor confirming Halal products. Unfortunately, there are still unscrupulous manufacturers who place the Halal label on products that are not halal,” added Yusuf Rikov, Head of the Halal Certification Authority of the National Competence Center for Halal Products and Services.
