Paraguay, UK move towards cattle genetic certification

The institution announced this after a joint meeting of representatives of the authorities of our country and this direction. Senacsa representatives were   the DIRECTOR of quarantine Norman Ramirez, the director of international relations Claudia Silvera and the HEAD of the HEALTH certification department Elida Candia.

The United Kingdom was represented by Gonzalo Grosso, Director of International Trade at the British Embassy  ; Rob Grinnall, Veterinary Consultant; and Tamanna Sidika, Agricultural Attaché, both from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

Recent import from Uruguay

On June 2, Paraguay made a historic import of polled Hereford embryos from Uruguay. This was significant for the breed in the country and was the result of a coordinated genetic improvement strategy with a regional reach, originating from the renowned Valle Chico ranch.

In this regard, the sector emphasized that the introduction of elite genetics will help consolidate the key characteristics of the polled Hereford breed biotype, such as early maturity, endurance and reproductive efficiency, adapted to the conditions of the Chaco and Eastern regions.

 In addition, Paraguay's relations with the United Kingdom were recently strengthened by the presence of Foreign Minister Ruben Ramirez Lezcano, who met with Labour MP for Leeds North East and Trade Representative to the Southern Cone, Fabian Hamilton, at the British Parliament in London .

Both ministries paid special attention to strengthening diplomatic relations, developing trade and creating new investment opportunities between Paraguay and the United Kingdom. This was also facilitated by the visit of the Trade Representative to our country, who expressed interest in exploring new partnership opportunities in various sectors.
