New veterinary regulations for the transport of pigs and feed will come into force on September 1, 2025

From September 1, 2025, new veterinary rules, approved by the order of the Ministry of Agriculture of RUSSIA dated March 11, 2025, will come into force concerning the movement of pigs and their feed by road transport. These rules establish mandatory requirements for both legal entities and individuals when transporting these animals and their feed, including the use of trailers and containers. The main points of the regulations include the following:

• Transport must be covered and provide ventilation.
• The floor of the vehicle must be waterproof and free of cracks or depressions that could allow the contents to spill out.
• it is necessary to prevent the spillage or leakage of pig waste.
• For transport exceeding six hours, containers for bedding, water and food must be provided to prevent leakage of contents.
• Before use, vehicles that have previously carried substances that can cause poisoning must be treated.
• Transport conditions must allow animals to lie down and stand up freely.
• When transporting pigs of different sexes, with a weight difference of more than 20 kg, it is necessary to use partitions to separate the animals.
• Veterinary documents for pigs are required, and feed should not be transported in the same vehicle as the pigs.
• When transporting feed, temperature recommendations from the manufacturers should be followed.
