The cost of chicken MEAT is affected by rising prices for fuel, electricity and feed. In the last quarter of 2023, a seasonal decrease in demand is planned. Vladimir Mkhitaryan, General DIRECTOR of the enterprise , told RBC Krasnodar about this .

Earlier , Rosstat reported that from August 15 to August 21, 2023, among livestock products, prices for pork and chicken meat grew the most . Over the specified period, this product has risen in price by 1.4%. Chicken meat prices increased in 79 regions ranging from 0.1% to 4.2%. A decrease in prices for this category of goods was noted only in three regions. Since the beginning of the year, chicken meat prices have increased by 16.14%.

“As long as there is demand. The price has risen for one month (for chicken meat - Note by RBC Krasnodar), but we do not know what will happen tomorrow. it all depends on the purchasing power of the population. We always predict that in October-February meat prices are low. This is where seasonality comes into play. Many grow poultry in the summer on their farms, and in the fall they are slaughtered, because keeping them in the winter is an expensive pleasure. In slaughter weight, we produce 120-150 tons of chicken meat. Now we have already planned a 30% reduction in production volumes for the winter period,” Mkhitaryan said.

The general director of the Novorossiysk poultry farm notes that in January 2023 the company had to sell chicken for 110 rubles. per kg and incur significant losses. For four months the enterprise did not produce meat.

“Why should everything in the country rise in price, but not poultry meat and eggs ? The price of fuel is growing by leaps and bounds, electricity prices have been “released”, the DOLLAR has become more expensive, the lending rate has risen. There used to be subsidized loans, but today they are gone. Grain is also not cheap, and feed is from 55 to 60% of the cost of chicken,” Mkhitaryan said.

Earlier , the Ministry of Agriculture of RUSSIA reported that the rise in prices for poultry meat is seasonal, and their decline is expected in September. The reasons for the current increase in prices are the traditional for the summer period increased demand for products, as well as an increase in production costs.

As RBC Krasnodar reported, the increase in meat prices in August 2023 is due to the growth in exports of domestic meat raw materials. All major raw material producers went into EXPORT , which provides for foreign exchange earnings.
