The economic situation in RUSSIA may contribute to an increase in the cost of MEAT and meat products. This was announced on March 15 by the President of the Association of Peasants (Farmers), Personal Partial Farms and Cooperatives of the Leningrad Region and St. Petersburg, Mikhail Shkonda.

The expert noted that today the St. Petersburg region is in a situation where import substitution in animal husbandry has taken place. Mikhail Shkonda said that St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region are leaders in providing the population with various products.

“We are the first in terms of eggs, third in meat and chicken, third in fish so far, and in MILK are also in the top three,” the expert emphasized.

However, various factors affect the final cost of products. Among them are the fuel that is needed for delivery, and animal feed, as well as the amount of wages of employees and others. The cost of spare parts and equipment is rising. The expert noted that due to the economic situation, an increase in the cost of meat products should be expected.

In addition, there is a staffing problem. Rising prices affect candidates' salary expectations. Therefore, people no longer want to work for the salary that was offered yesterday.

However, the industry has already begun to receive government subsidies. Agriculture needs state support from entrepreneurs, manufacturers of machinery and parts for it. A rise in prices for meat and eggs can be prevented if a number of conditions are met.

“In order to contain growth, of course, we need to keep (prices for) fuel, electricity, wages, feed from rising. Accordingly, if all this is done, we will not increase prices,” said Mikhail Shkonda.
