The digitalization of the agricultural insurance industry will allow farmers to take out insurance and send applications for insurance payments easily, online, without collecting certificates and long waiting in lines, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Elena Fastova said during the conference “Where is the margin 2023”. The Ministry of Agriculture plans to develop these services in 2023, the report says, and fully launch the services in 2024.

First of all, the department will have to make appropriate changes to the legislation, the deputy minister noted. The next step is to combine several electronic services, for example, grain accounting services and other electronic platforms. Thus, there should be no need to receive separate certificates, the deputy minister explained - the agrarian will only need to write an application while sitting in his office, and the system will automatically attach the necessary data.

For example, this function can be used when submitting an application for insurance of the area of crops - the program itself will calculate the crop planned for this area and enter the data into the application, the deputy minister noted.

The Ministry of Agriculture will work on the digitalization of the industry in 2023, and by 2024 it intends to put the services into operation, the report says. This is supported by the National Union of Agricultural Insurers (NUA). The union said that they had already carried out an algorithmization of the processes of concluding a contract and filing an application for an insured event (together with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Bank of RUSSIA), now they are working on an online calculator that will allow farmers to calculate the parameters of an insurance contract.
