This week, the President of the Mexican Republic issued a decree to open the market for duty-free imports of several poultry products for one year. There are also no quotas for countries that are already allowed to supply their products to the Mexican market. The announcement made by the North American country is seen as a good opportunity for many large poultry producers in both North and South America, such as the US and Brazil.

According to Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) President Ricardo Santin, Brazilian chicken MEAT exporters have increased their profile among Mexico's food security partners.

“Brazil has met Mexican demand for chicken meat by partnering with the local industry. In the context of the abolition of tariffs, it is expected that our country will be able to increase volumes in this direction,” Santin analyzes.

Mexico is currently the eighth largest importer of chicken meat from Brazil, according to ABPA. Between January and April, the country imported 58,500 tons, up 128.6% from the same period in 2021 (25,600 tons).
