The Russian authorities are not discussing the possibility of concluding price agreements similar to the freezing of prices for SUGAR and sunflower oil for other types of products, Denis Manturov, HEAD of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, told reporters.
"Such decisions have not been made or even discussed," he said.
Earlier, the Russian government instructed the Federal Antimonopoly Service, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to work out the issue of extending agreements with producers and retail chains, which fixed prices for sugar and sunflower oil. it is proposed to extend the freezing of prices for sugar for two months, for sunflower oil - until October. In addition, it is planned to subsidize producers for up to six months.
In addition, from April 1, it is planned to provide subsidies from the federal budget for up to six months at the rate of five rubles per kg of goods to sugar producers that comply with the conditions for shipping only at retail, provided that the factory price is not increased. The total amount of subsidies is currently estimated at 3 billion rubles.
Such measures, according to Manturov, are a compromise. "This is a compromise decision, it was taken for two months. This is a transitional period in order to dampen price increases by providing state support from the government, the Ministry of Agriculture, in order to ensure the synchronization of decisions made and to support enterprises so that the sowing crops are preserved," the minister explained.
In addition, at the level of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), the issue of removing from May 15 to August 31, 2021 duties on sugar imports in the amount of not more than 350 thousand tons is being worked out.
"Therefore, this two-month period of the transitional stage will ensure the stability of supplies to both producers of sugar and sunflower oil in trade, and trade in order to dampen price increases," the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade summed up.
In accordance with the agreements that producers and retail chains signed in December 2020, the selling price for sugar is fixed at 36 rubles per kg, and the retail price is 46 rubles per kg. The cost of sunflower oil is set at 95 and 110 rubles per liter, respectively. The agreements are valid until April 1, 2021.
