African swine fever virus invades new territories of the Kostroma region. The last outbreak was identified in the district center Makaryev, where after the death of pigs in a personal subsidiary plot, the presence of the genetic material of the ASF pathogen in the tissues of dead animals was laboratory confirmed.

After the introduction of quarantine, two settlements of the neighboring Neisky district were in the threatened zone, and Kadysky district was in the surveillance zone.

The first outbreak occurred on July 17 in a personal subsidiary plot located in the village of Chelsma (Galichsky district), and soon outbreaks appeared in Chukhlomsky, Soligalichsky, Buysky, Kostroma and Susaninsky districts. An epizootic investigation showed that the pathogen came to the Kostroma region with infected feed, which was supplied by an entrepreneur who did not have the necessary license from a base in the city of Neya. The feed came from the Ivanovo region, where there was an extremely unfavorable situation for ASF.
