Korney Bizhdov, President of the NSA: in the Kirov region, the insured livestock has doubled in 3 years

“The Kirov region, due to its geographical location and well-established traditions, is primarily a livestock region, showing significant progress in dairy farming, and also has poultry and pig breeding. Animal insurance in the region is developing rapidly - the insured livestock has doubled in 3 years, from 70 thousand conventional units. heads in 2020 to 159 thousand in 2022. As a result, in the Kirov region, 100% of the industrial poultry population is insured - 4 million heads, 80% of the industrial pig population - 181 thousand heads, and 10% of the cattle population - 24 thousand cows. At the same time, crop production in the region has not yet been insured, although positive developments are planned in this direction,” the President of the NSA emphasized.

According to the NSA, in the Kirov region in 2022, insurance coverage was provided for 17 thousand hectares of crops (of which 12 thousand hectares are winter crops for autumn sowing). This indicator is 3 times higher than in previous years, when from 3 to 5 thousand hectares were insured, but still makes up a very small part of the region's sown area - less than 3%.

“The Kirov region has shown particular interest in the new emergency insurance program – last year more than half of all insured areas in the region received this type of protection. This year, such a program also continues to operate and remains available to farmers - the state pays 70% of the cost of the insurance policy,” said NSA President Korney Bizhdov.

According to the Federal Law N 260-F3 "On State Support in the Sphere of Agricultural Insurance", in RUSSIA, within the framework of a centralized system, state support is provided for insurance of risks of crop production, livestock breeding and commercial aquaculture. Only insurance companies that are members of a single all-Russian association, the National Union of Agricultural Insurers, have the right to conclude insurance contracts with state support. Insurance is carried out on the basis of uniform standard rules for each insurance program provided for in the agricultural insurance system .
