ROSSELKHOZNADZOR suspects a number of companies in the Rostov region of spreading the causative agent of African swine fever (ASF) in RUSSIA. As specified in the department, the genome was identified in one of the correctional colonies.
“On October 12, 2021, as a result of laboratory studies of samples taken by the Rosselkhoznadzor from half-carcasses of frozen pigs in one of the correctional colonies of the Federal Penitentiary Service located in the Urals Federal District, the genome of the African swine fever virus was detected,” the message on the Rosselkhoznadzor website says.
it turned out that MEAT was supplied to the colony by one of the Stavropol companies that operates in the Rostov region. At the same time, the products also had a veterinary certificate issued in the region. It is also known that meat products were produced near Rostov. and the carcasses were stamped by a company from Belogorod. In the colony. where the product was sent. as noted in the department, it was not used as a raw material.
During the audit, it turned out that the veterinary service of the Rostov region, when certifying pig carcasses, “changed the number of the veterinary stamp in the documents indicating the true origin of the product” - one Belgorod manufacturer was replaced by another.
“It is noteworthy that all transactions carried out and documents issued are signed by the same person, the veterinarian of the Rostov City SBBZH,” the Rosselkhoznadzor specified.
The department suggests that at one of the enterprises near Rostov, with the connivance of the regional veterinary service, pork may be forged, and the products of ASF-infected animals are presented under the guise of being safe. Rosselkhoznadzor appealed to the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia with a request to check the revealed facts and take measures against unscrupulous companies within their competence.
