Four regional rallies across Ireland demonstrate the discontent of farmers against the government due to the political compromise reached in the past few weeks.

"The clear message is that the farmers are frustrated and angry at the way our government treats them. The farmers will not agree to be offered as the sacrificial lamb of the Green Party in order to keep the government. The farmers believe that our government wants to get them out of every policy, including the Climate Change Policy, the CAP and the Nitrate Action Plan, aims to reduce production,” said Irish Farmers Association (IFA) President Tim Cullinan.

He added that Irish farmers are ready to take part in actions aimed at creating a sustainable climate model for all participating businesses, but not in a plan that will inflict losses on their families.

“Farm families are subjected to policies based on regulation, restrictions and cutbacks without any consideration of their impact on farm family income and overall economic impact. Farmers are aware of climate action and are ready to play their part, Cullinan said. - Farmers cannot understand why our government categorically refuses to draw up a plan for the sector that will allay farmers' fears and instill confidence in the long-term future of agriculture. If there is a forum for employers and unions about the future of the economy, there is no reason why there cannot be one for agriculture,” Mr. Cullinan said.
