For the period from December 11 to 17, 2021, the World Organization for Animal HEALTH (OIE) received reports of the registration of 274 foci of especially dangerous animal diseases in 25 countries of the world. The corresponding notifications were published on the official website of the OIE.

For the first time since 2018, cases of serotype 4 bluetongue have been reported in Portugal (10). Outbreaks have been identified in the municipalities of Castelo Branco, Santarem, Setúbal, Évora and Beja. The infection has spread to the sheep population.

In Palestine (1) a case of FMD has been reported in unvaccinated small ruminants. At the moment, samples of the pathological material have been sent to the Bait Dagan laboratory, Israel, for serotyping. Previously, the disease was officially registered in Palestine in June 2019.

In Colombia (1), for the first time, CORONAVIRUS infection covid-19 was notified in a lion at the zoo in Barranquilla. The animal has a clinical picture of a respiratory infection, infection occurred presumably as a result of contact with infected service personnel.

African swine fever outbreaks have been registered in Hungary (4), Germany (9), Latvia (15), Romania (56), Malaysia (4) and South Africa (6). On the territory of Japan (1) a new focus of classical swine fever in domestic animals was recorded.

Goat arthritis/encephalitis control continues in Colombia (3).

New cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza subtypes H5N1 and H5 reported in Austria (2), Great Britain (11), Hungary (11), Germany (34), Greece (1), Denmark (12), Ireland (7), Italy (15) , Luxembourg (1), Netherlands (29), Norway (1), Poland (8), Romania (1), Ukraine (1), France (9), Sweden (1), India (1), SOUTH KOREA (10 ), Japan (2) and South Africa (7).
