Exports of beef in March amounted to 120,495 tons, which is 5% less than a year ago. The value of exports fell 17% to $892.6 million, but both volume and value were the highest in five months. In the first quarter, beef exports were down 8% year-on-year to 326,494 tons worth $2.35 billion (down 22%).
“ U.S. beef exports faced significant headwinds late last year and early 2023, but March results show some encouraging trends,” said USMEF President and CEO Dan Halstrom. “Most Asian markets showed new momentum in March, with shipments to Mexico, the Caribbean and South Africa also rising.”
