Sergey Golovanov, HEAD of the Department for Analysis of Trade Barriers and International Legal Support at the Federal State Budgetary Institution Agroexport, commented for the Agroexport material that the UAE is a potentially promising country for developing exports of turkey and its processed products: carcass parts, semi-finished products, and delicacies. The expert's report, which was reviewed by sfera.fm, indicates that the demand for such products in the country is steadily growing.
The demand for turkey MEAT products depends primarily on the preferences of local residents - in the UAE they eat a lot of meat, andTurkey is both an inexpensive and a “healthier” product. In addition, demand for the product is brought by expats, whose flow to the UAE has increased in recent years, Agroexport noted. Another demand factor is tourists: in 2022 alone, their number in the country increased by 163%.
RUSSIA received permission to EXPORT many products, including processed turkey products, to the Persian Gulf countries back in 2015, Agroexport explained. At the same time, the tariff rate in the region for this product is quite low. Given the existing growth in demand for the product and the growth in turkey production volumes within the country, developing exports in this direction could be a good incentive for Russian poultry farming. However, to export products to the UAE and other Muslim countries, enterprises need to obtain a halal certificate for their products.
