In the agricultural enterprises of the Irkutsk region over the past five years, the number of all types of livestock and poultry has decreased, especially the flock has decreased: sheep and goats have decreased by 39%. Some results of the agricultural microcensus for 2021 were published by the territorial department of statistics.

Farmers and agrarian entrepreneurs are actively getting rid of the number of pigs and poultry, while rapidly increasing the availability of cattle and small cattle. Since 2016, the number of cattle in their farmsteads has increased by 1.7 times, the number of sheep and goats has increased by 24%.

With these types of livestock, farmers more than compensated for the losses of agricultural organizations. The farm flock is many times greater than the presence of small cattle in agricultural organizations. And in terms of the availability of cattle, including dairy herds, farmers have eliminated their former backlog from agricultural organizations and are now far superior to them.

Farmers of the Angara region keep 90.4 thousand heads of cattle, ranking first in the Siberian Federal District in terms of its presence. The result surpassed the indicators of the agrarianally developed Altai Territory with a herd of 89.7 thousand heads.
