Since the beginning of the year, deliveries of pedigree cattle (cattle) of MEAT breeds from the Chelyabinsk region to other regions of RUSSIA have increased by 1.5 times, the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture reports.
Up to 40% of the All-Russian herd of Herefords are kept in the Southern Urals, while breeding animals here have a high genetic status. Therefore, the demand for South Ural thoroughbred bulls is very high throughout the country and in the neighboring Republic of Kazakhstan. For the development of the breeding base in meat farms, the region provides support, funds are raised for these purposes from the federal budget:
“64.2 million rubles were allocated to support beef cattle breeding in the Chelyabinsk region this year. In addition, the enterprises of the region have entered the new federal program to improve the genetic potential of meat breeds of cattle, the purpose of which is to increase the volume of production and sale of breeding stock and genetic material,” the press service of the regional Ministry of Agriculture reported.
More than 300 enterprises are engaged in beef cattle breeding in the region, the total number of cattle exceeds 45 thousand heads. In farms receiving targeted subsidies for the development of beef cattle breeding, the breeding stock has increased by 1,000 heads since the beginning of the year.
The development of animal husbandry in the region is facilitated by a strong breeding base: there are three breeding farms and three breeding reproducers in the region, where 8.4 thousand heads of breeding animals are kept.
This year, 80.2 million rubles were allocated for the maintenance of breeding stock, including meat breeds. By decision of Governor Alexei Teksler, farmers most affected by the drought were given regional subsidies for the purchase of feed in the total amount of 300 million rubles. Farms have the opportunity to receive 9,000 rubles for feed per cow of the beef herd.
Documents for participation in the state program to improve the genetic potential of cattle were sent to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation by five South Ural farms: LLC Varshavskoye, Agrofirma Kalininskaya, Sovkhoz Bredinsky, KH Karsakbaev K. B. and farm "RISK". Attracting federal resources will allow local enterprises to improve the genetic potential of their animals, which means it guarantees a high level of sales of breeding young animals in the future.
