Brazil exported 11,300 tons of eggs last year, up 81.5% from 2020, when only 6,200 tons were shipped. In value terms, the growth was 80% and reached $18 million. Taking into account only December, egg exports amounted to 2490 tons, which is 72.8% higher than in the last month of 2020, when 1440 tons were exported.

“December had the highest EXPORT volumes in 2021. Production costs have significantly reduced the margins of the sector, with two key inputs - corn and soybean meal - rising in price by more than 100% in some cases during the year. Exports help alleviate the challenging conditions facing the poultry sector,” explains Ricardo Santin, President of ABPA.

The United Arab Emirates continues to be a top export destination with 6,900 tons exported in 2021, up 105% from the same period last year. They are followed by Japan with 1100 t (+270%) and Oman with 408 t (+183%). According to the Brazilian Livestock Association (ABPA), other important markets are Qatar, Uruguay and Saudi Arabia.
