The acting Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Crimea, Alime Zaredinova, spoke about this. She explained that the limousines arrived at one of the farms in the Bakhchisarai region, where the number of representatives of this breed already amounts to 950 heads.

As Alime Zaredinova noted, in the Republic of Crimea, more than a dozen farms are engaged in beef production: “Our livestock enterprises raise Aberdeen -Angus, Hereford, Kalmyk cattle, and the only farm in Crimea, which is located in the Bakhchisaray district in the village of Zavetnoye, is engaged in raising cattle limousine breed. This hornless breed belongs to the MEAT category.”

A peasant farm in the village of Zavetnoye has been developing the limousine breed for 10 years. Today the livestock numbers 950 heads of cattle, 520 of them are in fattening, and 10 sires came from Tatarstan.

Alime Zaredinova said that now the broodstock, together with the calves, is on a pasture with an area of 2.5 thousand hectares. The farm is an intensive feeding site, and the diets do not contain GMOs or other unnatural growth stimulating substances. Also in fattening are Aberdeen Angus bulls – 20% of the total livestock. The farm plans to increase the herd size to 2,500 thousand.

“The Ministry of Agriculture of Crimea provides support measures in the form of grants, as well as financing for the purchase of breeding stock. If farmers want to increase their livestock, they can receive funds to maintain the breed, as well as to expand the herd. If this enterprise later becomes a breeding enterprise, then we also provide annual support measures for the retained breeding stock to ensure that this stock is preserved and increased. This is a gene pool that will increase the number of animals and increase meat production . This is what we strive for,” concluded Alime Zaredinova.
