According to the car owner, he briefly went to work that evening and left the keys in the driver's seat of his Volkswagen Transporter. When he returned a short time later, he saw an unknown person behind the wheel attempting to drive away.

The man realized the thief had misunderstood the car's design and simply couldn't engage reverse gear to get away from the building. "Continuously engaging forward gear, he moved forward, and upon hitting the building, he automatically rolled back due to the elevated surface on which the car was parked. Until police arrived, the car owner kept the suspect locked inside," law enforcement explained.

The thief turned out to be a 45-year-old resident of the district center with no prior criminal record. The intoxicated man was walking from a bar, noticed the car and the keys inside, and decided to take a drive. He was unable to explain his intentions, citing severe ALCOHOL intoxication.

A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 214 of the Criminal Code.
