Poor sleep, a sedentary lifestyle, smoking and acute stress can provoke a stroke even in young people, an angioneurologist, HEAD of the STOP-stroke service Evgeny Shirokov told RBC.
“Under certain circumstances, even a young and healthy person can have a stroke. If he didn’t sleep for three nights, didn’t move much, smoked, drank, then he went to the bathhouse and ended up quarreling with his wife,” the professor explained.
According to him, in recent years, strokes are “younger”, more and more often they occur in people under 60 years old. This is due to the early occurrence of coronary heart disease, atherosclerosis. The main causes of these cardiovascular diseases are a sedentary lifestyle, overweight and stress.
Why are we more stressed now? Because very often people do not observe the regime of work and rest, many, mostly men, work two or three jobs. In addition, we experience chronic stress, which is associated with an incomprehensible future, ”Shirokov emphasized. In addition, it is important not to overwork and have a good rest, the DOCTOR believes.
According to the Ministry of HEALTH, received by RBC, the number of strokes in RUSSIA is increasing every year. In 2014, 380.2 thousand people were diagnosed with such a diagnosis, in 2015 - 418.8 thousand. In 2016, there were fewer strokes - 414.2 thousand, then again there was an increase: 428 thousand and 432.6 thousand cases in 2017 and 2018 respectively.
“The increase in the incidence is primarily associated with improved detection and timely treatment, which helps to avoid deaths,” the press service of the department said.
