May 23, MINSK . Among the adult population, 30% of the injured were in a state ofALCOHOL intoxication , Andrey Yaroshevich, a traumatologist-orthopedist of the highest qualification category of the admission department of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Traumatology and Orthopedics, told reporters .

“Compared to 2019, our injury rate increased by 5%. In general, Minsk remains the leader, the lowest rates are in the Vitebsk region. Among the child population, high injuries are in Minsk and the Minsk region, and the lowest in the Vitebsk region,” said Andrei Yaroshevich.

At the same time, according to him, in general, injuries are not as severe as before. "Children who are engaged in organized recreation are less injured. Children who are resting in summer cottages without the all-seeing eye of their parents are more injured . it is very important to note that a child, due to a certain physiological development, cannot fall in a coordinated manner, his HEAD is relatively heavier, the center of gravity is much higher than in an adult. Therefore, children very often have head injuries and fractures that are much more serious than in the adult population," the DOCTOR said.

"The structure of injuries in the summer is changing due to the fact that there is more outdoor recreation, near water bodies. Therefore, injuries from diving in shallow water come first here. People remain disabled for the rest of their lives. As for children, resting in summer cottages areas, they continue to climb trees, ride scooters, mobile vehicles in an unorganized manner, - Andrey Yaroshevich added. - It is easier to prevent injuries, explain to the child how to relax, where you can swim, than then engage in a long period of rehabilitation and recovery after an injury. And in general, a safe holiday without self-control and a prudent attitude to one's HEALTH is unthinkable. An aggravating factor is alcohol abuse. 30% of those injured among the adult population are people who abuse alcohol."
