Drunk taxi driver from Lida sentenced for accident in which man injured

The Voronovo District Prosecutor's Office supported the state prosecution in COURT in the case against a 23-year-old resident of Lida, who is charged with violating traffic rules while intoxicated.ALCOHOL intoxication , which resulted in the infliction of serious bodily harm through negligence. According to the department, it was established that in September 2024 , a drunk taxi driver , driving a Renault Laguna from Voronovo towards Lida, lost control, drove into the oncoming traffic lane, where he collided with an Opel Astra. As a result of the accident, the 39-year-old Opel driver inadvertently suffered serious bodily harm due to danger to life. Taking into account the evidence presented by the state prosecutor, the Voronovo District Court passed a sentence. Based on Part 4 of Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, the Renault driver was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 3 years in a penal colony in a settlement with the deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for a term of 6 years. In addition, due to the weakened control of the taxi service, the court issued a private ruling against the commercial organization, since the driver began automobile transportation without a medical examination before starting work. The verdict came into legal force.
