October 18, Grodno. In Ostrovets, a driver who drove into a pedestrian while drunk was taken into custody, BelTA was told by the information service of the prosecutor's office of the Grodno region.

The prosecutor of the Ostrovets district authorized a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to a 37-year-old local resident - he was charged with violating traffic rules in the stateALCOHOL intoxication , resulting in the death of a person through negligence .

According to the case materials, the suspect, being drunk (he had 3.3 ppm in exhaled air vapor) and without a driver’s license, on October 9 at about 19.30 was driving a Nissan car along the roads of the Ostrovets district. At one point, the man lost control and drove onto the right side of the road, where he hit a 42-year-old pedestrian, who died on the spot.

The Ostrovetsky district department of the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case against the driver under Part 4 of Article 317 of the Criminal Code.

The prosecutor authorized detention taking into account the circumstances of the crime and the identity of the suspect.
