December 31, MINSK. Since the beginning of this year, 22 traffic accidents involving drivers who were in a state of intoxication have been registered in Minsk - 4 people died in accidents, BelTA learned from the UGAI GUVD of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

State traffic inspectors recalled that the final in 2021 Single Day of Road Safety is being held today under the motto "The road does not forgive mistakes." The main goal of the event is the prevention of road accidents committed while intoxicated.

The statistics of the severity of traffic accidents shows that ALCOHOL and the road are incompatible things, the UGAI drew attention. “Alcohol affects visual acuity, reaction speed, dulls the mind, and this leads to such types of risky behavior as speeding, not using seat belts, lack of conscious behavior. in a state of intoxication, in accidents 4 people died and 28 were injured of varying severity," the State traffic inspectorate said.

Traffic police officers reminded: those who get behind the wheel while intoxicated put at risk not only their lives, but also the lives of other road users.

It's not just drunk drivers that are dangerous on the roads. Pedestrians under the influence of alcohol are no less dangerous. “They behave illogically, carelessly, and sometimes aggressively. There are cases when drunk pedestrians choose the roadway for recreation. Unfortunately, such situations often lead to car accidents. This year, 32 accidents occurred in Minsk due to the fault of drunk pedestrians, where 13 people died," the UGAI announced the sad statistics.

The state traffic inspectorate called on eyewitnesses to report by phone 102 about the facts when drunk drivers drive transport or when passers-by are in a state of intoxication near the roadway. Such a call can help save someone's life.
