January 14, MINSK. A man was detained in Gomel for defiling the facades of buildings with cynical inscriptions. BelTA was informed about this by the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Gomel Regional Executive Committee.
"The operatives of the Novobelitsky District Department of Internal Affairs of Gomel identified and detained a 38-year-old Gomel resident with no criminal record. During 2020 and 2021, the man put more than 20 cynical inscriptions on the facades of buildings, insulting the current government and law enforcement agencies," the police department said.
After the end of the electoral campaign in August 2020, the citizen subscribed to extremist TELEGRAM channels. Information of a destructive orientation was actively forwarded to friends and acquaintances. Then, having bought spray cans of paint, he went out into the street in a state of alcoholic intoxication and applied cynical inscriptions on the facades of buildings in the Novobelitsky district of Gomel. The last time he committed an illegal act was on December 17 last year. Also in early January, he actively reposted destructive information on the situation in Kazakhstan from banned Telegram channels.
On the fact of desecration of buildings and other structures, a criminal case was initiated under Art. 341 of the Criminal Code. The person involved will also be held administratively liable for dissemination of information products containing calls for extremist activities or promoting such activities. The Gomel resident was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.
