MINSK . A car thief was found in the Vetkovsky District by a scent trail, BELTA reports citing Anna Kodolova, official representative of the State Forensic Examination Committee for the Gomel Region.
The Vetkovsky District Department of Internal Affairs received a report of a car theft. The car disappeared from an unguarded parking lot next to one of the high-rise buildings in the district center.

However, the findings of the odor examination, which established a match between the scent trail seized from the stolen car and the scent samples obtained from the suspect, indicated the opposite. The Vetkovsky ROSK initiated a criminal case on this fact.

As explained by the Gomel Interdistrict Department of the State Forensic Expertise, it is based on the uniqueness of each person's scent, which remains even after he leaves the crime scene. And specially trained detector dogs are able to capture and identify these microparticles left by a person on objects or in the air during the examination.
